I hope my patients will recognize my genuine concern for their GI ailments, and find comfort in discussing their symptoms so that we can work together towards the management of their condition.
Kristina Spitale-Efstratis, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CCRN began her career in nursing in 2013 so she could support people during their most vulnerable times. In 2018, she became a board-certified family nurse practitioner, and she strives to ensure that her patients receive the high quality of care that they need and deserve.
She chose to go into the field of gastroenterology because it plays a huge rule in a person’s quality of life, yet it isn’t always the easiest to talk about. Kristina is especially passionate about the identification and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and irritable bowel syndrome because these two conditions can have a significant impact on a patient’s day-to-day life, and proper management can make a big difference in their overall wellbeing.
A highlight of her career so far has been when she applied for and was chosen straight out of nursing school for a challenging and competitive critical care residency. Succeeding in the program was one of her proudest moments. As an advanced practice registered nurse, delving into a specialty as vast as gastroenterology has been another rewarding challenge that she is incredibly thankful for.
She had the advantage of working alongside the doctors of Digestive Health Associates as a nurse in the community before joining the practice as an APRN, and she said the impeccable quality of compassionate care she witnessed left no doubt that this was the group she wanted to work with. Since integrating into the practice in 2018 and becoming familiar with every member of the staff, she is inspired every day by the kindness, experience, and ever-growing knowledge base that exists at all levels of the practice.
Kristina is a former Miss Reno Rodeo and Miss Rodeo Nevada. She grew up showing horses in 4H, and she still likes to compete in local gymkhana events in her spare time.
I hope my patients will recognize my genuine concern for their GI ailments, and find comfort in discussing their symptoms so that we can work together towards the management of their condition.
